Paris Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG) international airport, also known as Roissy-Charles de Gaulle, is the most important French airport as to number of passengers, air traffic and load volume. It takes its name after the General Charles De Gaulle, the famous former French President. The airport is located 25 km far from Paris and presents 3 terminals interconnected via a free shuttle bus service. Terminal 2 is the largest one with 6 buildings and mainly hosts European flights. Terminal 1 is instead used for international flights, and Terminal 3 usually for charters and low cost airlines. AIRLINES16 low cost airlines land at Charles de Gaulle airport; among them, Vueling, Aer Lingus, Air Berlin, EasyJet and Brussels Airlines. Big airlines departing and landing at CDG are Air France, Lufthansa, Alitalia, British Airways and many more. Line 2 operates from 5.45 am to 11 pm and gets to Porte Maillot and Place Charles de Gaulle, whereas Line 4 from 7 am and stops at Gare Montparnasse and Gare de Lyon. The ticket costs 12€. Another solution is the roissybus, that departs from several terminals (1, 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, 2F) until 11 pm and gets to the Opéra area. Tickets cost 8€. BY TAXITaxis to the city centre depart from terminals 1, 2 and 3 and cost 40€ during week days and 45 on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
