What’s the weather like in Paris? Before leaving, it’s wise to get information about the seasons to enjoy this wonderful city at its best.
Paris weather is mild, half way between the continental and the oceanic ones. Winters are short and can be mild and rainy or severe and snowy depending on the winds blowing, with temperatures going as down as some degrees below zero. On average, it snows 15 days a year and minimum temperatures are very low in January. Nonetheless, covered in snow Paris is as beautiful as ever.
Springs are mild, scented, green with trees and bustling with people walking along the streets. May is perhaps the best month to visit the city, since temperatures are warm and trees become green once again.
Summers in Paris present a changeable weather, with close and hot days alternating with less warm and occasionally rainy days, with minimum temperatures as low as 15 degrees. During this season the city is particularly lively, with crowded ice-cream shops and people lying down in parks or on the Seine embankment to enjoy the sun.
Autumn, with its hint of melancholy and its peculiar touch of colour, is the poet’s and culture’s season. It’s not too rainy in September and colder in November, when temperatures can go as down as 10 degrees, too.
OUR ADVICE. We advise you visit the city in spring or autumn, when the trees’ yellowed leaves give the city a touch of magic that lots of painters and literati have immortalized over the centuries. In summer, many Parisians leave the city heading towards the south to the seaside, but Paris is bustling and full of attractions nonetheless.
